I’m 20-years-old and currently attend Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ and have plans to transfer to Northern Arizona University next fall and study Electronic Media & Film as well as Visual Communications.

You heard right, cripple is indeed my preferred nomenclature. Not disabled, not handicapped and most definitely not “confined to a wheelchair”. Oh, and I’m also not politically correct in the slightest.

In my spare time I like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain.

Kripplng Tumbls

Holy crip it's a crapple!

For those of you curious as to why I am a cripple, its quite simple. I am the product of an illegitimate love affair between my mother and Jerry Lewis. At least, I think that’s what happened, all I know is I’m one of Jerry’s Kids.

Being one of Jerry’s Kids I’d like to remind everyone that the MDA Telethon is just around the corner starting on August 31st and of course ending on Labour Day. For the past eon I’ve collected money for MDA doing everything from going door-to-door, doing 50/50 raffles, acting really crippled and desperate in front of stock brokers, but mostly I relied heavily on friends and family.

Yeah, you can see where this is going, can’t you? That’s right ladies and jellyspoons, I’m..BEGGING!

The MDA recently set up online donations via a sponsor. I would really love if anyone could help out. Any amount helps, even a dollar. If you’re curious where your money would be going, here are some ways your donation would be used:

$85 funds one minute of research

$100 funds one support group session

$200 funds one clinical diagnostic exam

$800 sends one child to MDA Summer Camp

$2000 helps purchase a wheelchair, leg braces or communication devices

By the way, $2000 for a wheelchair? Yeah, for a manual chair, maybe. However, once you get to power chairs, such as the one I have with many customizations, you can pay upwards of $20,000. Let me also add that the MDA Summer Camp was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. A bunch of gimps hanging out in the woods for a week, what’s not to love?

Anywho, I would be forever greatful if you could donate even a little bit (of course the more the merrier). Hell, if you donate and live in Tucson I promise to take you out for a beer once I turn 21 in December.

Also, to my fellow Tusconans: I will be on the telethon on KGUN 9 sometime during the last segment starting around 1:20 on Monday the first. I’ll be the one with the kick-ass fedora.

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do

I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen much of Joss Whedon’s work. I tried watching a couple episodes of Buffy and despite the superb eye-candy that is Sarah Michelle Gellar, I just could not get into it. I wasn’t disappointed when Firefly was taken off the air because frankly, I had never heard of it. I know, I’m a bad geek. Sue me.

As I mentioned in my last post, I’m a big Twitter fanatic now. If there’s one thing that Twitter is good for (besides telling several hundred of your closest friends about your latest bowel movement) it’s creating hype and promoting something - and that’s exactly how I discovered Joss Whedon’s latest creation: Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. For days all I saw were tweets of praise for Dr. Horrible, many saying that the writing, production and acting rivaled and even surpassed that of today’s sitcoms. I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about and I’ve got to tell you, they weren’t lying.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is a tragicomic musical staring Neil Patrick Harris (who is a personal hero of mine), Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day (who I just want to…groom) that is comprised of three acts solely released on the internet. Quoting Joss, “It’s the story of a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he’s too shy to talk to.” Who says Hollywood is out of ideas?

As I said above, Dr Horrible was released solely on the internet, but don’t expect it to be the same production quality of a cat stuck to a ceiling fan. Everything is on par with that of cable television, except the writing. The writing is that of pure awesomeness. I had several good laughing spells - chortles..guffaws, if you will. Aside from great laughs, you will also get to have your heart wrentched on a good bit. I didn’t see it coming, but man does it come (that’s what she said).

Lets face it. You cant go wrong with Neil Patrick Harris. The guy was a fricken doctor when he was a kid for crying out loud. Not only that, he’s a stellar actor and has an awesome singing voice as does Felicia Day. I hadn’t seen any of Felicia’s previous work, but after seeing her in Dr Horrible I am a huge fan. Shes a great actor, cute as hell and the best part? She’s a huge geek. She has a Twitter, plays WoW and even writes and stars in The Guild, a webshow about the online and offline lives of a guild members in a mamorpiguh.

If you haven’t seen Dr. Horrible yet, you can enjoy all three acts on Hulu and if you really love it (you will) help them get paid by purchasing it via iTunes under Comedy in the Podcast section.

Fly like paper, get high like planes

I decided it was time to resurrect <strike>the tumblog</strike>< (ok, that just sounds silly) my tumblr page. Sure, I’ve had many failed blogs in the past (including this one), usually because I’m just plain lazy. However, I have been using twitter quite a bit lately, but there’s only so much one can say in 140 characters. So, instead of setting up some god foresaken blogging software on a friend’s server only to use the damned thing for a week, I decided Tumblr was my best option.

Now I got you here so I may as well give you something worth while besides this boring diatribe.

Here’s a video that’s been making the rounds lately, but it has excellent replay value. When I see stuff like this, it’s as if my faith in humanity is recharged.
